For our human body weight maintenance, our energy intake has to match our bodily energy expenditures. This balance between energy intake and energy expenditure determines our bodily energy storage.

Furthermore, our macro-nutrient consumption must support the bodily macro-nutrient oxidative damage taking place therewithin the body. This balance appears to be especially challenging to accomplish in many people; increasing one’s risk for disease.

This video discusses Metabolism; the total amount of the biochemical reactions involved in maintaining the living bodily system. These metabolic processes involve our growth, physical bodily maintenance, reproduction, and in the maintaining of the cellular structures therefore our organ-systems that are therewithin our living system carrying out our life as we know it.

Discomfort From Fructose Intolerance?

Fructose is known also as, Levulose and is a naturally occurring monosaccharide; meaning it is a simple sugar; that is found primarily within Fruits, Vegetables, and Honey.

I am gonna go chemistry-like here, but only just for a little bit. So here it goes, Fructose, though having a 5-sided molecular ring-structure is still classified as a Hexose(6)-Sugar; because of the totaling of the 6-carbon-atoms within the sugar molecule itself.

Fructose which can also be called Fruit-Sugar is found in many plants where it is often bonded to the glucose molecule to form the Disaccharide - Sucrose.

The Pure, dry Fructose is sweet and is the most water-soluble of all the sugars; it is also the sweetest of all the naturally occurring Carbohydrates. Therefore, this is the primary reason that Fructose is used commercially in foods and beverages; besides being at a lower cost.

Furthermore, It is used so extensively by the food manufacturers that it is accounting for approximately 5% of the total energy-intake within the United States. While yes, the fruits and vegetables are all loaded with fructose, the majority of the fructose that is out there within our western-diets comes from the foods that are made with the ingredient high-fructose-corn-syrup.

It is the most widely used sweetener found within the soft-drinks, fruit-juice beverages, and a variety of other snack foods. High fructose corn syrup (HFCS), is produced enzymatically from corn. It is consisting of equal amounts of fructose and glucose.
This sweetener that is made from corn-starch, has been processed by glucose-isomerase; an enzyme that converts some of the glucose in the Disaccharide Sucrose into the sugar - fructose. Creating almost equal amounts of fructose and glucose.

According to the US Department of Agriculture (USDA), HFCS consumption has increased by more than about 1000% between the years 1970 - 1990. With the annual consumption of fructose rising from less than a ton in the year 1966 to 8.8 million tons in the year 2003…

I'll say it for you "Wow"

Malabsorption
Intolerance to carbohydrates is a common problem; these problems can lead to unexplained GI symptoms such as…

  1. Abdominal
  2. Bloating
  3. Gas
  4. Flatulence
  5. Pain
  6. Distension
  7. Nausea
  8. Diarrhea

Is It Possible?
That the rise in fructose consumption in the US population has also resulted in a rise in the fructose malabsorption and therefore intolerance?

Humans Have A Limited Absorption Capacity
For the monosaccharide, fructose. Since the fructose absorption is an energy independent process; the process itself can be rather variable. All the while glucose is going on to be completely absorbed.

The malabsorption of fructose is said to generate an osmotic-force which pulls water into the lumen; this is the hollow tubular intestinal canal. Leading to the rapid propulsion of the bowel contents into the colon, where the fermentation leads to the production of gas.

Unfortunately you can see this will head you right towards those above-mentioned symptoms, especially, for those patients with visceral hypersensitivity. Visceral hypersensitivity or visceral hyperalgesia is the term used to describe the experience of pain within the inner organs - the viscera.

Visceral pain is a highly complex entity, with variables in every individual experience. It can occur in patients with organic disease. Referring to the physical or the physiological change to some tissue or the organ itself within the body. Or potentially, in those without any identifiable structural or biochemical abnormality; such as functional gastrointestinal disorders.

People who have fructose intolerance should definitely, for their own comfort levels, limit the high-fructose containing foods; such as the processed fruit-juices, candy, and sweeter desserts,

Christine Foutch - Holistic Physician - For Your Health, Wellness - Educational Purposes

Skeletal-Muscle is our bodily organ of locomotion. Furthermore, it is also the largest contributor to what is considered our resting metabolism.

For some additional clarity, Skeletal-Muscle plays a central role in the maintenance of our physical appearance, movement, and our metabolic health.

Metabolic benefits
To expand a bit on the metabolic benefit, increasing our lean functional muscle mass actually increases our metabolism, boosting our caloric expenditure.
This statement will hold true throughout all our bodily states. Whether circumstances are for at work, where all the physical activity increases caloric expenditures. Or during rest, while cellular adaptations of structural growth, conditioning, maintenance, and then of course repair can now take place.

To Clarify All This
Our body is uniquely designed to resist stress; forces including gravity are acting on our bodies all day, every day. Our physical ability to manipulate these forces allows for the production of our voluntary bodily movements. Unfortunately, the actual act of resisting while manipulating these forces consequently produces internal forces that can now damage our soft muscular tissues. Therefore, requiring enhancements and repair.

Free Radical Production?
During our catabolic energy metabolism, Cellular Respiration. Referring to the catabolic metabolic process of breaking down glucose to release the needed energy to produce the energy molecule of the cell. 👉This will actually drive the cellular functions.
These free radicals are naturally produced and damaging to the cellular structural components. Such as structural lipids, contractile proteins, and DNA. Requiring now, the anabolic metabolic process of the cellular structure repair continual. These cellular functions and furthermore maintenance is all quite costly in the terms of energy; therefore all will increase one’s energy expenditures; translating into calories spent.

Cellular Structural Repairs
To continue these combined internal and external forces, and oxidative damage that the body is actively combating daily literally requires, the the body to adapt; strengthening the bodily structure as a whole.

However, these adaptations are taking place at the cellular levels. Requiring the anabolic placements of cellular protein filaments, cytoskeletal stabilizing filaments, and protein contractile filaments alike; all the while cellular membranous repairs continue. These structural adaptations allow for the cell to enhance its very own functional abilities. Structurally growing while strengthening its own formation.

Bodyweight Maintenance
For bodyweight maintenance, our energy intake has to match our bodily energy expenditures. This balancing act between our energy intake and expenditure will literally go forth determining how much energy our body will actually store as fat tissue.
Skeletal muscle in the terms of energy is quite expensive. This essentially means your body spends a significant amount of energy which translates into calories just to run and maintain this tissue, alone.

Therefore, there is great value in bodybuilding; increasing the amount of one’s lean functional muscle mass will considerably influence the body’s metabolism in multiple ways. Structurally growing while strengthening your own visible form.

Eating & Bodybuilding
You can directly influence the amount of muscle mass you have through your eating and exercise practices. Exercise and the conscious awareness of your nutritional intake do have the ability to make that needed positive impact, allowing for the attainment of one’s bodily goals.

Christine Foutch
Controlling Age-Related Muscle Loss

Christine Foutch - Holistic Physician - For Your Health, Wellness - Educational Purposes

A condition linked with the increase in muscular-weakness or, frailty. Increasing one’s risks for the fall-related fractures; therefore, increases one’s risks for disability. Leading to higher mortality and disease rates within the older populations.

Our whole population is growing older; especially here within the United States. All, us older adults are able to live longer, healthier, more fit and functional lives than ever before. To expand on that statement, life expectancy grew within the twentieth century by approximately a believed 30-years. Today, those Born are expected to live, basically, up to 80 years of age. By the year 2030, the population over the age of 65 is expected to double; going from around 12.5% to approximately 20% give or take a bit.

Unfortunately, all species are affected by age, not just us humans… Everyone knows someone older than themselves. Honestly though, considering an individual as “Old” really does depend on one’s own individual age.

Women, are expected to live longer than that of men. Therefore, presumed to make up about 50% of the considered younger-old-populations. Furthermore, women make-up approximately 69% of the "oldest" of the Older-Populations.

Women, are also 3-times as likely as the male populations to become widowed. With this believed percentages for us women coming close to about 78% compared to that of the Men at approximately 35%.

For all of us, aging influences our activities, which influences our perception of “Self” therefore our own perceived quality of life. Furthermore, aging is not fully understood; going forth to cause structural as well as functional changes in one’s Skeletal-Muscle. Possibly starting as early as the mid-third to early fourth-decade. Our total body composition changes with age. Our fat-mass increases, notably the Visceral-Fat; which is referring to the body fat that is stored within the Abdominal-Cavity. Therefore, stored around the internal organs. While the lean-functional-muscle-mass decreases. This goes forth lowering our complete caloric expenditure.

Sarcopenia Age-related loss of muscle strength, function, and the contractile-fibers, therefore, our muscle mass.

Obviously, all of this significantly changes the older-adults quality of life. Decreasing one’s mobility, increasing the risks of falls, altering our perceived independence and self-assurance. Furthermore, our metabolic-rate lowers, as there is the loss in the metabolically active tissues. All of which will significantly accelerate with the decrease in one’s physical activity.

By the fourth-decade of one’s life, the Sarcopenia evidence is detectable. This loss of muscle mass is very noteworthy, as needless to say, muscle is firmly attached to one’s measure of strength and endurance.

Fortunately, there are many lifestyle practices that we can initiate to slow this progression; the allowance we all need to remain functionally fit, throughout our many years of life. Preserving our muscle tissue and the health thereof will ensure as we all advance in age that we are able to sustain our self-sufficiency.

The acknowledgment of this age-related muscle loss and how the aging process affects our minds and bodies alike is understandably important in the preparation for our older years. The sedentary-lifestyle, improper nutrition or nutrient malnourishment, such as the lowered protein intake; are just some of the factors that one can focus on and initiate the necessary needed change for our future independent strategies.

Structured exercise or just increasing our physical activity is generally one of the most important steps we can launch improving our future health. Exercise and the conscious awareness of our nutritional intake do have the ability to make that needed positive impact on the aging process; for men and women alike.

For some additional clarity, Sarcopenia is characterized by the atrophy ~ the wasting away of the muscle Type II cellular contractile muscle fibers, the larger more powerful contractile fibers.

Nutritional Intake
The nutrients within our foods are needed by the body. For the maintenance, repair, and the growth of our structures. Whether this is for maturity, or as we all age. Furthermore these nutrients are needed for the Muscular-Adaptations that are brought about from our physical activities and therefore our strength training practices.

Strategic Personal Training
Can and will employ the strategies needed for the personal gains in your muscle growth and therefore strength.

Skeletal Muscle
Responds, adapting to the repeated-stimuli brought about by structured exercise routines. Importantly here, bringing in the needed positive impact on all of our bodily aging processes.

Pain & Exercise?
Christine Foutch - Holistic Physician - For Your Health, Wellness - Educational Purposes

Chronic pain is brutal. Making it hard to enjoy even the simplest of our daily activities. Therefore should I even mention the carrying out of an exercise routine? The answer is yes, as many of us individuals do have a false impression when it comes to back-pain, general pain, and an exercising routine.

I do understand that many are reluctant to begin an exercise program; out of fears that any type of stretching or exercising participation will aggravate or possibly worsen their existing situation. furthermore I must take into consideration the heavy reliance on medical treatments, such as the so-called painkillers; which do, in essence keep us going momentarily; yet, underemphasizing the importance of healing and the long-term pain relief.

Pain has not always been the most understood. Many professionals have focused on treating the symptom of the pain, the pain itself. Hence, the undertaking of the prescription and the non-prescribed pain relieving medications.
Within the present day with the advanced neuroimaging, it has been shown that chronic-pain, unlike acute or short-term pain can cause structural changes in the Brain. Pain is an actual stress on the body, furthermore, stress redirects bloodflow through the blody including the brain. This redirection of bloodflow lowers nutrient flow to the frontal lobe and other imortant areas of the brain. Therefore, with this lengthened amount of time, definitely adds to the risk of developing cognitive problems. As, the PreFrontal Cortex, the actual neuron cell-bodies of the frontal lobe, receive a lowered nutrient flow; lowering their abilities to function.

There are no medical tests, that I know of, confirming chronic pain levels. Many individuals find themselves going from Doctor to Doctor searching for an explanation. Possibly leading to unnecessary evaluations and treatments.

Neuropathic-Pain is different from other types of pain. If an individual has broken a bone, the pain signals are carried by the peripheral nerves from the site of the trauma to the central nervous system for processing. With neuropathic pain, the "Pain" is originating in the nerves themselves and so, the Pain becomes the disease. Potentially, the nerves can become dysfunctional and therefore damaged. Causing what is called Hypersensitivity. The Nerves can then send faulty signals of the pain sensation; even if the injury has healed.

There is great importance in the early treatments. As more aggressive treatments may be needed if the symptoms are not addressed promptly. As time goes on, exposure to significant pain can cause the neuronal sturctural changes. Possibly, taking one's body towards that Hypersensitivity. Causing the body to become more sensitive to even the slightest touch. This phenomenon is known as Central Sensitization.

Through Exercise And Physical Activities

  1. The Body can become strengthened.
  2. One's range of motion increases
  3. One Increases in flexibility

Unfortunately, in many cases, additional surrounding muscles are pulled in and activated, compensating for the weakened muscle areas, creating tension and possbly additional discomfort. Tight muscles have the potential to become injured when the joint is forced to move through a functionally un-attainable range of motion, or, at a higher velocity.

The Reduction Within Muscle Tension
Through the improvements in the relaxation of muscle tissue, is known to be associated with self reported stress reduction. This can be accomplished through activities that address the muscle tension and range of motion issues. This is easily accomplished through light weight resistance training and stretching exercises.

Most experts will advise against prolonged periods of inactivity. This will cause the body to stiffen, become deconditioned, and sorry to say, weakened.

Inactivity Is A Problem
Potentially causing the considered negative adaptations. possibly resulting in a progressive downward spiral that leads to furthered dysfunction, chronic pain, and reduced quality of life.

Therefore, should I close this article with a reminder of the importance of an exercise routine? As, taken with the conscious awarness of one's nutrient intake, your better body days do await.
