Yin Yoga is a slow-paced type of yoga, incorporating principles of traditional Chinese medicine, with asanas (postures) that are held for longer periods of time than in other styles.

It's true that during a yin practice you may find yourself with a bit more “mental time” to manage than in a yang type of class like vinyasa. But in yin yoga you're opening up any blockages and releasing that energy to flow freely by stretching and deepening into the pose (or shape).

If you haven’t yet experienced a Yin class, or you love Yin yoga but you don't have much time to practice, try this 8-minute practice to soothe your lowerback, open the hips, and calm your nervous system.

This short class is helpful when you feel stressed out or anxious and you wish to calm down and recharge a bit. Enjoy the deliciously calming benefits of a short Yin practice.
