Whitney Goodman is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. Whitney’s mission is to help couples and individuals transform their lives. She lives to help high-conflict couples and struggling individuals make a change. The power of her therapy is amazing.
Whitney’s journey to becoming a therapist began as an adolescent, in coke-bottle thick glasses, breathing into a paper bag on a therapist’s couch. She believes this therapist changed her life.
She went on to receive her undergraduate degree at Tulane University in Sociology and Gender Studies. Following this, she received her master’s degree in counseling psychology at the University of Miami. She became a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and planted her roots in Miami.
Over the years, she has treated tons of people, including cancer patients and the chronically ill, couples recovering from affairs and addiction, people with anxiety or depression, and adults addicted to substances or in early recovery from addiction. She specializes in working with couples and individuals who have experienced chronic illness, medical trauma, and other kinds of distressing or traumatic life events.
Whitney’s style is direct, and she fully integrates mind and body throughout the therapeutic process. Her individual and couples therapy style is very interactive and hybrid of coaching and psychotherapy. She believes in honesty and empathy in the therapy room and tries to help her clients notice patterns that they might be repeating in a safe, trustworthy environment.
Whitney uses components of EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Somatic Experiencing. Lifestyle interventions like nutrition, movement, sunlight, and drinking enough water are at the core of her treatment. She truly believes that people heal fully when they address their emotions on a mental and physical level.
