I am glad you enjoyed the article, thank you! In regards to your question; I would have to say both are possibilities. Using the fear of the dark example as one goes through the therapy we could reframe how one feels about the dark which would naturally ease and then erase the fear. Hypnotherapy can be very abstract and so often times the correct use of metaphor or other technique in the hypnotic state can change a mindset, allow an emotional healing, cancel out a fear, habit, or condition seemingly to just be erased or changed spontaneously. Sometimes a person can pinpoint what made the change and other times like I said previously it can just seemed to have happened. I believe it really is subjective to individual expeience.
