This Damages Your Chromosomes And Causes You To Age Faster Than Anything Else
Everyone wants to look younger, unless you are young enough to want to look older! And let’s be honest, most of us passed that part of our life quite a while ago now. There are many things you can do to look younger and looking younger is great but what’s the use if you don’t feel younger as well? If you focus on your health, vitality and well-being you will naturally look younger from the inside out and that will create the positive changes you want to see in your skin, your weight, muscle tone, how you feel etc.

Today I want to share with you something called ‘Telomeres’. Telomeres are the caps on the end of chromosomes. Chromosomes are the protein found in the nucleus of most living cells carrying the genetic code. Telomeres are the cap on the end of chromosomes that protect it from being worn down. Tonight I was watching the Escape Fire film which is a documentary discussing the lack of progressive and effective healthcare in America.
It discussed how the prices of healthcare in America are double to triple the price of other developed nations and how it’s not effective at all. In fact, it is making our overall health worse. I knew most of what the documentary was discussing and had heard it before from the countless health experts, authors, and educators I learn from but there was something interesting in the documentary that I wanted to share.
The Telomeres on the caps of the Chromosomes shortened as an effect of stress as you can see below…
When telomeres are shortened the chromosomes are worn out and the cells begin to die, this causes aging.
And a host of other age related symptoms
So what does this tell us? that we are all going to get old someday? maybe… Or it just tells us that stress has a bigger effect on our lives and on our health than we know and that we age and appear to age because of stress causing telomeres to shorten which damages the chromosomes.
So how do we anti-age 10 or 20 years? We de-stress… We undo the stress that we’ve let accumulate in our lives in the past 10 or 20 years. When I say ‘we’ I mean you and I! We let stress come into our life. It’s a choice to get stressed about bills, about work, about family, about relationships, etc.
Just ask yourself, if a monk with decades of meditation mastery were in this situation that I’m stressed with right now would they be stressed right now? If the answer is no (it probably is if you are honest with yourself) then it’s important to get a grip on your perspective and find that balance to not let an external thing affect you and your health. Your stress, life, job, car, spouse, and circumstances are YOUR choice. The sooner you take responsibility for your life the sooner you will be empowered to create that lasting positive shift in your life.
In the process your stress will go from being effected by the circumstances to understanding the circumstances at a deeper level and not allowing them to effect you like they currently do.
What do I recommend? Meditate, sit in silence. Take a hot bath with therapeutic grade essential oils suited for relaxation or with incense or a candle, sip a hot cup of tea! Do all of them at once! (ok, not at once… that might be dangerous, but you get the picture)
Spend time cultivating a harmonious peaceful environment, flood your senses with blissful nature sounds (from youtube) and get some healthy food, some aromatherapy from essential oils or incense. Rejuvenate your mind body spirit connection and cultivate inspiration.
Most importantly, decide to avoid stressful situations so you don’t put yourself in that situation to have to ‘not stress’ but if you are in those situations realize that it’s a choice to become stressed as well.
