What for: Improving core strength, spine flexibility, and body awareness. Decreasing stress and generalized body discomfort. (Belly dance is not meant to diagnose or treat any specific condition, illness, or disease).
How: I start by teaching the proper stance which is also the proper alignment/ posture for every day living. Each individual move helps us embody further, forcing us to stay fully present to what we are doing. Moves that are more difficult point to energetic and physical blocks in the body which can be addressed in session.
With the rollercoaster ride that this last year has been, lots of things have been going on in the world and individually, which means that a lot is going on in the inside as well.
Every organ corresponds to the energy of a certain emotion, and every disease stems from an imbalance in an organ or its meridians (energy channels). This is a fundamental idea in Chinese Medicine. Many times a physical disorder linked to a certain organ actually stems from an imbalance in the emotion associated with that organ. The reverse is often true as well: an imbalanced organ can heighten the specific emotion experienced by an individual. It can easily become a vicious cycle.
All emotions are inevitable, physiologically normal, and will not necessarily cause disease when they arise in daily life. Chinese medicine only considers emotions as pathological when they are repressed, contained, or expressed intensely, often, without control, or out of context.
Yin yoga is a wonderful practice to release trapped emotions and take the time to really feel into current emotions. Including Yin yoga in your regular yoga practice can have a profound effect on your emotional well-being.
There are 7 chakras; Crown, Third Eye, Throat, Heart, Solar Plexus, Sacrael, and Root
Chakra balancing allows for your chakras to become aligned, opened, and healed from past infliction.
So how do you know your Chakras are not aligned, or closed? You will begin to feel off balance at first, get dizzy often, you will not be able to focus and think will a clear head, you will become pessimistic, you will be closed off in relationships, you may be prone to stomach aches & constipation. Depression, heightened anxiety, and a lack of connection with reality can be a direct association to unaligned chakras.
***This is NOT a reading or intuitive healing session. In total, this will take about 30-45 minutes. Before we start, we will have a brief discussion on what you're experiencing & I will be able to determine whether we will focus on one specific chakra or all of them equally. It is possible to have only 1-2 chakras out of place.
