Ten years ago, I found myself in a new place, searching for a space where I could be kinder to myself while balancing the demands of work and motherhood. It was a challenging time, as I had recently lost my mother and was living in a one-bedroom flat with my eight-year-old son. But despite these struggles, I found kindness and support from strangers who showed me that love and compassion could come from unexpected places.
One particular night, exhausted from the demands of work and motherhood, I found solace in singing the songs that my family used to sing during our daily morning prayers. As I sang, I felt a sense of comfort and connection to my faith. And then, unexpectedly, I heard a small voice asking me to repeat the last verse. It was a young woman, a fellow traveler far from home, who had taken comfort from hearing these familiar words of faith.
This encounter showed me that my voice could be a tool for healing, not only for myself but for others as well. It gave me the courage to continue raising my voice, even in moments of vulnerability and pain, knowing that it could bring hope and comfort to others.
At the heart of this experience is the power of heart intelligence and Soul Dance, practices to access the heart's intelligence and connect to our true selves, our intuition, and inner wisdom to live a more fulfilling life.
Here are some practices that can help you tap into your heart intelligence and practice the soul dance:
Singing and chanting: As my experience shows, singing and chanting can be a powerful tool for connecting with our faith and inner wisdom. Find songs or chants that resonate with you and sing them regularly, even if it's just for a few minutes a day.
Gratitude journaling: Take time each day to note a few things you are grateful for. This practice can help you cultivate a more positive outlook and connect with the abundance in your life.
Mindful breathing: Practice mindful breathing by taking deep, slow breaths and focusing on the sensation of the breath moving in and out of your body. This can help you connect with the present moment and reduce stress and anxiety.
Self-care: Make time for self-care activities that nourish your body, mind, and spirit. This can include things like taking a relaxing bath, going for a walk in nature, or meditating.
Dance: The more you can follow what your body wants to do the better, shake yourself clown around, and move your body in a new way as often as possible.
My experience shows that raising our voices can be a powerful tool for healing, both for ourselves and others. By tapping into our heart intelligence and practicing the Soul Dance principles, we can connect with our inner wisdom and live a more fulfilling life. So let's raise our voices and dance with our souls!
What a beautiful story. I find gratitude journaling and mindful breathing so helpful in reducing my stress and improving my happiness daily.
