Lineages developed distinctly as North and South varieties, preserving and developing knowledge within some families, but mostly within buddhist monasteries. In some lineages medicinal oils are applied.
Sessions are known for their rare combination of slow and gentle touch along with very deep tissue manipulations, often lasting 2-3 hours.
