How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! How great is the sum of them! - Psalm 139:17
Thought - The act of thinking; the exercise of the mind in any of its higher forms; reflection; cogitation.
The human brain is by far the most amazing and complex thing ever created. Some believe the secrets of the universe are contained within its mass waiting to be discovered.
Some of the greatest minds who have ever lived have dedicated their lives to unlocking its secrets through science and philosophy. But one aspect that remains elusive to most is not how the brain works but who created it in all its glory and potential.
For “who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct Him?” But we have the mind of Christ.
- 1 Corinthians 2:16
It's logical to recognize that this amazing technical mass of tissue we all have been given is not meant simply for selfish purposes but has been given to help, empower and discover the meaning of life.
For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist - Colossians 1:16‭-‬17
Now that we have established the who behind our mind let's discover the why!
For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them - Ephesians 2:10
What are these good works and which ones should we carry out now that we have been called to do so by the example of Jesus Christ?
And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him - Colossians 3:17
All of us have been given specific gifts from God that are meant to be used to serve others and spread the good news of the kingdom of heaven. It's our responsibility to discover those gifts and to begin to implement them in obedience according to the example of Jesus and the direction of the spirit of God contained in the scriptures.
This can only take place once we understand just how much we are loved and valued by our creator. When we allow his word to take root in our hearts and minds it gives us freedom to serve because our goal is to reciprocate that same love he showed us to others which brings him glory.
