What is Facial Reflexology?

Facial Reflexology Sorensistem is the first of its kind holistic treatment that involves application of finger pressure on ‘points’ and ‘areas’ of the face to correct body imbalances. Proximity of the brain to the face is the key factor for its efficacy and its utilisation for therapeutic and cosmetic benefits.

The modality combines oriental medicinal practices, including acupuncture and primitive aboriginal techniques with zone theory and contemporary knowledge of neuro anatomy. It is a safe and gentle treatment that has both therapeutic and cosmetic benefits.

What is the purpose and benefits of this career option?

Face Reflexology offers greater acceptability to the therapist as they are able to provide non-invasive solutions to the neurological conditions, hormonal imbalances, poor blood circulation, improve digestive health, recover from skeletal-muscular injuries, improve facial muscle tone and skin texture and address the effects of stress on the physical-emotional body.

The purpose of this career option is to assist individual correct bodily imbalances, naturally, without the use of medicines and free of side effects.

Why have you chosen Face Reflex therapist as a career option?

It has always been important to me to do work that adds value to another individual’s life. In today’s highly stimulated environment, the human body and mind are undergoing tremendous stress. There is a constant rush that doesn’t allow us to pay attention to ourselves and remain connected with our inner systems. Traditional healing systems like Facial Reflexology allow us to get in touch with ourselves and work out imbalances, prevent disease and establish harmony within. They empower us with our own solutions, and allow us to grow in every dimension.

Where did you get the inspiration to pursue such an off-beat career?

Lone Sorensen, the founder and creator of the Sorensistem is an inspiration. She traveled all over the world, meeting people and exploring cultures to create a mix that allows us to address acute and chronic imbalances gently and permanently. Her dedication and stories of the people she has helped get back on their feet are my inspiration.

There is a particular case of complete blindness that was reversed using this modality; another case in which a new born baby cried continually without an identifiable cause are only some of the examples of her work which include zone therapy and neuroanatomy.

Her concepts and methodology have been integrated into a research conducted at the Filadelfia Kurhuset State Rehabilitation Center of Denmark for patients with brain damage and dysfunction as of the year 2000

How has your journey been?

My journey has been very enriching and fruitful. It’s awesome to see people get back to health and lead a fuller, happier life.

How did you land up into this field, breaking the stereotypical career choices of engineering and medical?

I trek a lot and one of things I found common in all my travel was the acute absence of medical aid that local people had access to. Trekkers and tourists were their means of getting medicines. At that point, I had just started studying foot reflexology and it occurred to me that I could give back to the community by healing the people. It is a skill I could take wherever I went. Till today, when i travel into the mountains, I carry my kit and work on the people I come across through the trail.
