The Use of Yellow in Colour Therapy
Yellow is a happy bright and uplifting colour, a celebration of sunny days. It is associated with the intellectual side of the mind and the expression of thoughts. This is the colour of study, this colour is perfect in a study, around a students study space or wherever you need to work. Yellow aids the power of discernment and discrimination, memory and clear thinking, decision making and clear judgement. It also helps organisation, assimilation of new ideas and the ability to see different points of view. It builds self confidence and encourages an optimistic attitude. On the other side dull yellow can be the colour of fear. Yellow is the colour you give yourself, your friends and family who are prone to depressions, who are studying or who are making tough decisions. You can give this with flowers, fruit, crystals, pictures etc. Yellow also strengthens the nervous system generally. It creates energy in the muscles by activating motor nerves. It also activates the lymph system and cleanses the digestive tract. It also clears blockages in the pancreas, liver and gall bladder. For cleansing the body drink lemon water, place crystals on the sacral chakra above these areas on the body, wear yellow clothing, eat yellow foods such as, lemons, bananas, yellow peppers, egg yolk, sweet corn, corn etc. Your best and easiest form of yellow is from the sun, this will give you all you need as long as you take it in sensibly. Yellow in the home decor is very uplifting especially if you have north facing windows. Use yellow in places you need stimulation e.g. the study or kitchen, I wouldn’t recommend this colour in the bedroom as it can keep you awake, and if you use it in your living room then use a pale version as your body wont realise when it’s night time and time to rest. If you have a fractious family relationship and have a yellow room in the house, try changing it to a soft cream to make it more harmonious.
