And the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the patient waiting for Christ.
- 2 Thessalonians 3:5
Have you ever become restless about something that was promised to you but you had no specific timeline for when it will be fulfilled?
This kind of experience is a humble reminder that many things in life are out of our control. How we choose to proceed as we wait will greatly impact our outlook and attitude until it's been fulfilled.
Paul the Apostle understood that many of the promises Jesus made to him and all future generations would require a commitment of trust and patience. Failure to do so will bring about discouragement and cause us to lose sight of what's been promised.
To put it plainly we must not fall into the trap of idleness. Each of us has been charged by God with a mission to share the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature - Mark 16:15
This message will impact the quality of life we experience here and now and also determine where we will spend eternity when this life as we know it is over.
So what can we do to remain encouraged and busy until his promises come to pass?
1.) Study his word - Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
-2 Timothy 2:15
2.) Pray - I desire therefore that the men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting;
-1 Timothy 2:8
3.) Give thanks - in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
-1 Thessalonians 5:18
4.) Love - This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. - John 15:12
These are foundational principles we can invest in that will help us to be productive and connected to our savior until his return.
The last and most important thing is securing your place in heaven.
For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
- Romans 10:10
For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,
- Ephesians 2:8
When we abide in him we have peace!
Now may the Lord of peace Himself give you peace always in every way. The Lord be with you all.
- 2 Thessalonians 3:16
