Tips for Balancing Time Between Cleaning and Kids
Jan 22, 2020

Reading time 2 min.

When you’re a parent, the luxury of having a clean house is more of a pipe dream than anything. However, having a clean house is more than a nice feeling, it’s also an important step in keeping a healthy, safe home for your little ones. How can you maintain a healthy balance between your role as a parent and ensuring that the house stays clean?

Make It A Family Affair

Leave the bigger tasks, like vacuuming and cleaning out your storage units in Orem to you and your partner. Little ones love to feel important, so make helping you clean one of their special, most important grown-up tasks. Starting them as young as you can will get your kids into good habits early on, plus when they help it takes even a small portion of the load off of you and your partner. Some of the tasks that even the littlest kids can help with might include:

-Sorting the silverware/unloading the dishwasher

-Folding the laundry (This can be a test of your patience and make you grit your teeth, but the more you have them practice the better they will become!)

-Sweeping the kitchen/small area of the house

Remember that kids need training in order to develop good habits. It takes some practice and a lot of time, but before you know it you’ll have the house running like a well-oiled machine as everyone does their part.

Find A Babysitter

Even when your kids do their chores that doesn’t mean that the rest of your home is magically cleaned as well. If you find that you need more time to get the house clean than you have, consider calling in reinforcements to help you. Ask a friend or relative to come by and hang out with the kids while you get the bulk of the housework done. While you have someone there with the kids, take advantage of the time to do the more arduous tasks like:

-Cleaning out the refrigerator

-Changing and washing bedding, including pillows and mattress protectors

-Sorting through closets/cabinets and getting rid of items

-Giving the kitchen a deep, thorough cleaning

Don’t feel guilty about asking someone to come over while you get things done; it’s not like you make this an everyday occurrence, plus donuts to ten a loved one will be delighted to have an excuse to see you and the kids. Even an extra hour is worth it!

Hire A Housekeeper

If you read that heading and laughed to yourself, give it some thought: Why shouldn’t you hire a housekeeper? If you think you can’t afford it, think again; if you check hourly rates for maid service in your area, you will likely be pleasantly surprised. The pros of hiring a housekeeper far outweigh the cons, some of the best perks being:

-Letting someone else do the work for you frees up your time, which means you get to spend extra time with your family. If cleaning is taking away precious time with your kids and partner, isn’t a cleaning service worth the money?

-The stress is taken off of you and you can spend less time psyching yourself out over the dirty dishes in the sink and the expired mayonnaise in the fridge and devote your thoughts to more important things.

-It’s just nice having the work already done when you walk in the door! Your house smells, looks and feels good, and you feel better too.

Hiring a housekeeper is not for everybody, but if you think that it might be worth it then give it a trial run at least once. If you aren’t happy with the results then you can always stop service.

Although you don’t let your home become dangerously messy, it’s true that you no longer have the same time that you used to have before you had children. Figure out ways to make the burden fall less on you without hindering your role as a parent.

50 & Beyond Health & Wellbeing Discovery Session

Join me for a comprehensive look into what it will take to stay physically and mentally strong as you move through the second half of your life.

We all want to age without the fear of suffering from a chronic illness and still have the energy and strength to live the life we want.

The number one reason people fail to stay healthy as they age is the inability to consistently follow the right habits and behaviours for health transformation.

Through working with 1000's of clients over the last 20 years, I have been able to develop a coaching program that not only looks at nutrition, exercise, sleep and stress management but also how to develop the right mindset needed to succeed.

Having a plan is not as important as having the ability to implement it.

If you are someone who struggles to follow healthy habits consistently. Or you are someone who wants to learn more about what they need to do personally to avoid chronic illness. Then my 30-minute Discovery Session is ideal for you.

From the 30 minutes we spend together, we will go through in specific detail what it is you can do today when it comes to what to eat, how to get the most from exercise, how to develop a powerful sleep routine and how to build a healthy environment needed to live a healthy life.

And with over 20 years of coaching experience in the health & wellness industry, I have witnessed firsthand what it takes to consistently follow the right habits and behaviours for lasting change.

Expect to hear things that will challenge what you have always been told about nutrition, exercise, sleep and stress management. As someone who is over 50 and is stronger, fitter and healthier than I was in my 20s, 30s, & 40s, I am well-placed to know what works and doesn't as we move through this period of our lives.

Check Your Vibes! Find out how much Positive and Negative energy you have!

The Energy Leadership™ Index (ELI) assessment is the proprietary, research-backed assessment tool, created by iPEC, that takes something abstract, like the way a person views the world, and turns it into something tangible—a metric that you can see and feel and even reevaluate in the future.

You’ve probably taken personality tests, like Myers Briggs, DiSC, and Enneagram, but this is different. And transformational.

The ELI is an attitudinal assessment tool that captures how an individual currently perceives and approaches work and life. This means that you learn to make change happen in real-time when you encounter a moment of self-doubt, fear, or frustration.

With the awareness and insights gained through the Energy Leadership Index debrief, you have the opportunity to reshape your attitudes and worldview and transform your life into the one you envision.

Our worldview is the result of a combination of many different aspects: our past experiences, level of consciousness, perception of situations. Each of us has a unique combination of all seven levels of energy which, in turn, creates your typical viewpoints, perceptions, and beliefs about life.

Learning about your energetic makeup can help you to reframe your perspective, shift your consciousness, and increase your energy level as a result. Discover your unique energetic makeup by taking an ELI Assessment!

This comes with an hour debrief - As an FYI the price is what it is because there is a price to me- I have to pay the institution for the assessment and the scoring. Then I'll walk you thorugh your results.
