Teas for Weight Loss

There are many ways of losing weight, such as; dieting. Exercising, fasting and eating the right foods.
You can also speed up the weight loss process by drinking herbal teas and tonics. These help your body to tap into its fat reserve for energy. Many people are looking to lose weight and get healthy, and drinking fat burning teas can help achieve that.
Let’s take a look at some of the best teas for weight loss;
BLACK TEA
Black tea undergoes prolonged oxidation or fermentation process, thus it affects its polyphenols make-up. Black tea contains EGCG (epigallocatechin gallates) and theaflavins.
According to a review published in Molecules, polyphenol form when black tea leaves are oxidized and they may offer weight loss benefits.
Also, black tea contains high concentration of caffeine. A cup of black tea contains about 47 milligrams of caffeine. Caffeine speed up body metabolism process and when this occurs it triggers fat burning process.
GREEN TEA
Green tea is the most common type of tea with numerous health benefits. Green tea is packed with Catechin and caffeine as these compounds are found to play key role in weight loss.
According to a review published in 2017, Nutrition Hosptalaria, green tea was only effective for weight loss when it was combined with about 80 to 300 milligrams (mg) of caffeine per day. Students have reported that caffeine must be present with EGCG to aid weight loss, because a stimulated nervous system is needed for optimal results.
Similar study involving 10 men who were obese were given 300mg of EGCG in supplement form for three days. From the findings, it showed that 300mg of EGCG boosted fat reduction.
OOLONG TEA
This is simply a combination of green and black tea. It contains a mixture of polyphenols; Catechins (present in green tea) and theaflavin ( present in black tea). Past review claims that oolong tea contains caffeine that lead to weight loss.
A small study involving 12 participants that was published in December 2020 in Nutrients found that men without obesity who drank oolong tea at breakfast and lunch saw 20% boost in post-meal fat burn as after 14 days while men who drank caffeine beverage saw similar result .Still, they didn’t burn as much fat during sleep when compared to the oolong tea drinkers.
MATCHA TEA
This is super concentrated form of green tea which has been used by months for centuries. It contains healing properties and can speed fat burning by up to 4 times than the usual amount.
Matcha is made from the leaves of a young green tea plant that are hand-picked, steamed dried and ground into a fine green powder. All you need is to mix the powder with hot water.
It offers some numerous health benefits like boosting your immunity, improve cognitive performance, and enhance exercise induced fat oxidation.
Matcha is an excellent sources of EGCG (epigallocatechin gallates) a plant-based polyphenol with powerful antioxidant properties. Matcha contains higher concentration of EGCG that the regular green tea, thereby increasing its metabolism and thermogenic effect in the body.

APPLE CIDER VINEGAR
This is one of the most powerful remedies known to man. It contains acetic acid which has been claimed to promote weight loss.

Diabetes is one of the common ailments affecting people worldwide. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), an estimated 1.4 million cases of diabetes are diagnosed each year in the United States of America.
Diabetes Mellitus is a disease caused as a result of high blood glucose in the human body. It has some symptoms such as frequent urination, increased thirst, and increased hunger rate, extreme weakness or fatigue, usual irritability, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain, unpleasant breath.
Also, Diabetes can also lead to serious health problems such as cardiovascular disease, chronic kidney disease, heart stroke, foot ulcers, damaged nerves and weakening of eyesight.
We have three most common type of diabetes, namely;
• Type 1 Diabetes also called the Juvenile Diabetes. This type of diabetes, the body stops producing insulin, an essential substance required to break sugar in the4 body.
The disease attacks the beta cells in the pancreas responsible for making insulin. The loss of the beta cells is caused by the autoimmune response.
Type 1 diabetes is caused by genetic factor. The only means for survival for persons with this type of diabetes is to take insulin every day to sustain life.

• Type 2 Diabetes: This is the most common type of diabetes found today. It is prevalent among adults. This is caused as a result of poor lifestyle and lack of exercise.
It is caused by obesity and lack of exercise. The body of the patients with Type 2 diabetes produces insulin but is not enough to break glucose.
To manage this type of diabetes involves adopting healthy diet and lifestyle coupled with exercise.

• Gestational Diabetes is found in women, mostly during or just after pregnancy. Affected women during pregnancy records high blood sugar levels.

People can choose a natural yoghurt such as Greek yoghurt with no added sugar.
Probiotic yoghurt contains live and active cultures called Lactobacillius or Bifidobacteria.
