What is a Gnostic?

A Gnostic could be a Jew, a Christian, a Buddhist, a Taoist, a Muslim, a Hindu, etc. so long as such a person values a personal and direct relationship with God, His Will, the Divine, Christ, the Emptiness, the Great Mother, the Infinite, the Eternal, the Source, The Life, The Truth, The Way, The Tao, etc.

All of these are just different words to describe a different perspective of God.

More importantly, “Gnosticism,” technically does not exist because true Gnostics do not strictly adhere to any particular ‘-ism’. And this goes for racism and for anti-racism because the first is a prejudice towards skin color while the second is a prejudice based on if you think someone else is prejudice due to skin color (melanin differences).

”-ism,” is defined on google as:

-ism:

1. A distinctive practice, system, or philosophy, typically a political ideology or an artistic movement.

“he loathed isms and any form of dogma”

As a whole, a Gnostic does not adhere to any specific system of beliefs or philosophies for the mere sake of enjoying something “greater than oneself,” because he intuitively knows:

There is nothing greater than The Self.

Such systems of belief are called religions or cults, depending on whether or not their ideologies empower a person into consciously knowing God, or if they take advantage of the inherent ignorance of the individual who sincerely seeks to foster such a relationship.

Yet, outside of the experiential proof of both POVs, people tend to define any organization as a religion or a cult, depending on how they think and emote in contrast to such ideologies, rather than testing all ideas in their personal experience for the proof of direct benefits.

This fact is what distinguishes a true Gnostic in comparison to any person who only claims to be Gnostic because he likes the idea or the uniqueness of such a label. Likewise, ‘Gnosticism’ is technically not a religion in so far as it is currently defined by google and popular opinion:

Religion:

1. The belief in and worship of a superhuman controlling power, especially a personal God or gods.

“ideas about the relationship between science and religion”

Specifically, a Gnostic is never content with the mere ‘belief in God,’ but is continuously seeking to Know God in his personal experience of Reality.

Meanwhile, the majority of other religions (that are correctly defined as such) consist of a compilation of ideas, methods and teachings meant to aid the individual in fostering such an ongoing relationship with God.

However, the vast majority of people who claim to be religious are not religious at all, even by the standards I have stated above, but are hypocrites: saying one thing and doing an other. And as such, these people are simply lying to themselves and are usually participating in a cult about God rather than experiencing a true and tested relationship with God.

The Gnostic rises above such handicaps by personally exploring all claims about God from friends and foes; and by putting those words, methods and teaching into a practical practice, he observes the results so as to see if a consistent experience occurs that is God-like, or better, an experience of witnessing God, directly.

In this way, a Gnostic could be defined as a truly spiritual person, regardless of any social, political, religious or national affiliations, because he values his experiential knowledge with God over all forms or expressions of intellectually theorizing about God.

A Gnostic could also be considered the ‘original scientist’ because he treats all ideas, suggestions, and opinions as theories until they can be consistently verified in the privacy of his personal experience and within the mundane activities of his everyday life.

This verification process of ‘testing a theory’ is also called an experiment i.e. experience.

However, the Gnostic practices true science because he personally explores all theories in his own experiments. And as such, he will never completely rely on any outside POV to “tell him ‘The Truth’ of what is true,” regardless of origin, reputation or affiliation; especially in all cases that contrast with his current beliefs or preferences of what he believes to be true.

Thus, a Gnostic values what is true above all else, even in contrast to his own opinions, and is hereby constantly seeking The Truth of God that underpins all apparent and practical truths in Reality.

Here is google’s definition of what is true:

True:

1. in accordance with fact or reality.

2. accurate or exact.

A Gnostic defines any given experience to be true if it remains consistent regardless of all opinions about it, and he defines any words or ideas to be True (or of Truth) if upon thoroughly examining such suggestions, he unfailing finds the evidence that was referenced in the initial claims due to correctly implementing the instructions given.

Altogether, such a rigid standard of truth is almost extinct in all mainstream literature and portrayals of “facts,” because such a self-sufficient approach has no value in the process of perpetuating a broken system that was designed to enslave the mind of its populace.

Yet, the Gnostic does not stop at the level of mundane truths that occur in between the interactions of his mind and matter, but is specifically seeking The Absolute Truth, a fact that does not change over experience, or “over time,” but is eternally present in ignorance or in the recognition of it, regardless of the person or the entity that is currently occupied by it.

This truth is what is known by all mature Gnostics as The Truth.

The Truth is also simply called ‘The Absolute,’ or ‘The Supreme Knowledge of God’.

Supreme: (of authority or an office, or someone holding it) superior to all others.

“a unified force with a supreme commander”

It is called supreme because it is literally the direct experience of recognizing God in every waking moment; and this is what a Gnostic seeks until he finds; whereupon he then seeks to Know God’s Will and Do God’s Will so as to enter The Kingdom here & now.

Altogether: God, His Mind & His Deeds represent the spirit, mind & body of all that is; and it is this complete and well rounded knowledge of God that is rightfully called Gnosis.

Gnosis is the God-Knowing Experiential Knowledge referenced in Mathew 7:21-27:

21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into The Kingdom of Heaven; be he that doeth the will of my Father which is in Heaven.

22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? And in thy name cast out many devils? And in thy name done many wonderful works?

23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:

25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.

26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be liken unto a foolish man, which built his house upon sand:

27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.

Gnosis is the fulfillment of The Absolute in your practical everyday activities.

Gnosis is the continuity of the Enlightened Experience that does not fade or change.

Gnosis is also called The Light of Love & Truth i.e what it truly is to be Christ Conscious.

However, to discover Gnosis, a Gnostic must Do God’s Will, Know God’s Will, personally know God as The Presence of Knowing, within.

God Bless You & Stay Faithful.
